Stanzas Required

11\9\2012: Anniversary of 9\11! Just been posting poems on my poetry blog and "Hello Poetry". I noticed whilst doing this that many of my verses need breaking up into stanzas. Whilst posting on Triond first I have avoided stanzas because they don't "take" there. But those poems need them! Will mean a lot of editing and saving on memory stick etc. but what a poet's gotta do.... Am typing this live onto the blog here by the way. That's all I've got to say. Lunch beckons. Out.

12\9: I posted 3 poems onto Hello Poetry recently. The Views to press: "Now" 18, "Mother Nature" 20, "New Eden" 208! Why has "New Eden" done so much better than the others? Not the foggiest. Is it the word "Eden"???

21.35: There, I've spent hours going through my recent poems and "forming" stanzas, i.e. spacing! SILLY ME: when I paste here of course, each poem is scrunched up so you have to respace (new word? Nah it's quoted from Collins Dictionary but underlined by Chrome)! It's even worse on Triond: you lose those stanzas whatever you do! However, I was right in thinking I needed more stanzas. Now have lots of poems to recopy onto my PC. Job done. Phew!

17\9 - On my PC instead of laptop for a change. "A Poem" 231 Views now, "New Eden" 229! Close. Love a race!

18\9 - "New Eden" is top of the pops now, on 232! "A Poem" remains on 231.

19.35 - Forgot what I was going to say now. Good job I've kept my Google Chrome Icon - went onto Internet Explorer and then found I couldn't edit here as I am now. Also cannot see some features on "Hello Poetry" though can still access. Can see myself swapping from browser to browser for certain sites and tasks. Computers!

20\9 - Yep, Digg or whatever it's called will not respond on IE either. But will it respond on Chrome?

21\9 (Just after midnight):      Yes that became TWO Flags. My Viewing percentages on Triond have completely changed now. The China figure has gone from about 33 to 3%! Percentages - UK 59, USA 28, Germany 4, China 3, Australia 3, Canada 2, India 2.

23\9:      On Triond, for once most of my views are from Google now! 59% are from the UK as reported above!

Just checked - looks like I started posting on Poemhunter on 11\1\2007. A bit of a Veteran, eh?

30\9 - That's odd. My poem "Mirror, Mirror" has had 303 Views all of a sudden. Something to do with the image of a mirror I used? God only knows. I see I can update on IE when on my home PC (Dell).

Today I notice that on "Hello Poetry" my poem "Circles" has suddenly shot up to 252 Views, just behind "New Eden" on 253! Seems like one new view can sometimes lead to a surge! "A Poem" is thus relegated to third place on my list now!

1\10 - "Circles" is now tops, on 258.

2\10 - My Poetry Blog has had 800 Views now. Thankyou everyone. "Mirror Mirror" post has received 531 Views (so the surge continues). Most Views are from Google. Those unwanted Russian Views have gone.

On Triond, my Google Views have suddenly gone way down. My Chinese Views are down to 3%. Most of my Views are from within Triond. UK dominated again with USA improving.

17.00:   Just had a salutary lesson. Clicked on a link in my stats to see where some of my views were from. Turned out to be a Russian Porn site that had scammed me. The page was blank but Google led me to a host of people who had also been scammed. THIS blog explains well:

9\9\12: Just got back home to a message from "Hello Poetry": says my poem "New Eden" (popped on there today) is "Trending". Checked: yes it's on the "Trending" list there with 127 Views! That should be from the many poets there, and their associates. Now to check the Comments.

10\9: 151 just after midnight! Nice comments etc. and more friends. Got 14 Views on Triond lol. Says it all. Got 5 more poems look suitable for "Hello Poetry"...

New Blog Title

No you aren't imagining things. This blog Was called "Sexy Writing" but I just retitled it "My Writing". I found a way of switching to old blogger for a few minutes and changed the title.

What prompted me was that I noticed a lot of my Views were referrals from a film site, then a porn video site or something. That word "Sexy" was evidently bringing views, but I doubt they were too interested in my take on English Literary issues, lol. They must have been So disappointed, which is the very opposite of what I'm trying to do here.

Incidentally I'm not making a copy of this, nor have I copied and pasted from Word this time.

Right, that's the title sorted at last. The URL remains unchanged however.

What do You want me to write about?

(24\7\2012 - As posted on Triond recently) What do you want me to write about? What do you need help with? What are you struggling with? What do you want to know? Any particular snippet of information or factual knowledge? Or do you just wish to be entertained by my stories and poems?

Earlier today I did a bit of research. I enjoy writing my stories and poems, but they still attract few Views. So what should I write? The thought occurred to me that I should write about things that people were seeking to buy. I googled something like, “What people buy online”. Sure enough I found some interesting, if conflicting surveys.

What people want to buy

Basically people want to buy:

1)     Computer stuff,

2)     Electronics,

3)     Fashion\clothes related,

4)     Porn,

5)     Health products,

6)     Travel Packages,

7)     Video games,

8)     Cars,

9)     Phones etc.

10)Services.

What facts do they want?

Okay, so then I tried to find out what information or knowledge people asked for. Everyone seemed obsessed about personal information and security. Again health information, how to be a success, dating tips, internet marketing, and so forth, all featured.

Then I noticed a site called Social Triggers. What it basically said was, don’t rely on surveys (or even trending topic lists) but simply ask the people.

So what do you want from me?

That could be a very important question. But I mainly want to know what you want me to write for you. No excuses: you can Comment here as a Guest if you are not a member of Triond. And with Triond commenting back in action (after a recent lapse) I can see your requests and act on them. Can even reply by adding to this very article with the “Fix” facility that I so love on Triond. Or write you another article\blog. Over to You.

Yesterday I had more than 100 Views on Triond, and went onto a new "chart". I think it was a PB for one day! Oddly 30% of my Views were from China! Plus 6% from Taiwan. UK was 28% and USA 27%. Usually UK and USA dominate my "pie chart" with China completely absent. Seems most views were for my "Banned..." blog for some unknown reason.

17\8: A Triond writer called Jharmon has reported that he too has suddenly received a surge of Chinese Views. Other commenters have said much the same. Seems these Chinese are Trionders rather than Googlers. Nobody seems to know what is attracting the Chinese!

My latest Triond Traffic Geo Distribution Pie-Chart reads as follows:

USA 42%, UK 39, Australia 6, Philippines 4, Canada 4, Romania 3, India 2.

UK has now closed the gap again on the US. It is only in recent weeks that the US has become my main source. Most of the year the UK has been my main source. Before Google PANDA (search algorithm change) the USA was always my main source of readers.

Poemhunter - Been talking to one of the UK's top viewed poets, Dave Walker, who happens to live in Bramley or Pudsey - my old home. In fact he's just told me he went to Crawshaw School! Small world!

PS I'm currently ranked 41 in the UK on Poemhunter, 265 in the world on 23 Views. Posted about a handful of new poems there the other day.

27\12 - On Triond: 50% UK and 30% USA now! About half my views are from Google!!! Since The Forum went, my views have "switched" from Triond internal to Google! Does this mean The Forum was damaging Triond's Google Ranking?

Incidentally I notice most of my Triond Views are from Google now! The Views direct from Triond are only 2\3 those from Google. During the days of "The Triond Forum" it was the other way round! Well, writers say it's healthier to get Views from the wider web, so I'm fairly happy now.

BTW - US 47%, UK 38%, and some Views from Hungary and Turkey!

19\4\12: I NB that my pal Craig Kendall now has nearly 42,000 followers on Twitter whereas I have a grand total of 42. This from him writing a blog about Swindon Town on a football site. Okay so he writes quite well, but he must have sussed out this web writing business far better than me. He keeps asking people to retweet, but I don't know the value of that. Our Universe

The Universe began with the “Big Bang” 14 billion years ago. It is believed to be the sum total of all Existence.

I have a problem. The “observable universe” does indeed indicate that there is an enormous “globe” of expanding matter out there, consisting of countless super-clusters of galaxies. Okay. But is that really Everything?

Let’s call our “universe” a “flowering”. The big question is, are there other flowerings beyond the one we have observed? I suspect that there are. A whole Multiverse of them. Our “universe” could even be an electron in some Macro Universe!

Besides which, there may be an infinite number of “dimensions” lying parallel to ours, each with its own multiverse. In short, we are truly lost!

Yorkshire: God's Own County

Have just sent a blog about Yorkshire to Triond. Better not leave a sample yet but will when it's published.

Yorkshire: The Truth

The stereotypical Yorkshireman is a big fat beer swilling bloke who eats Yorkshire Puddings, tripe, black pudding and dripping and bread. He keeps whippets, pigeons and ferrets tha knows. Yorkshire is a backward rural county where everyone plays cricket. However, this stereotype could not be further from the truth...

The Yorkshire stereotype lingers on. A backward, rustic county where we wear flat caps and carry ferrets in our pockets. We are Tykes who speak our own language, sithee. This Monty Python sketch shows this well:

The Truth

Sure, somewhere in the backwaters of The Pennines or somewhere there are still folk who race pigeons and so forth, bless em. But modern Yorkshire is about vibrant cities like Leeds, Sheffield , Bradford and Hull. I Googled the good things of Yorkshire:

Actually the larger conurbation around Leeds and Bradford could easily become “Pennine City” through the course of time. Someone once called this area “HuddersCleckHaliWakeFord or something in recognition of this fact. What a city “Pennine” could be! I was brought up in West Leeds by the way, a couple of miles or so from Pudsey.

What Yorkshire can be Proud of

Yorkshire has a great industrial heritage: woollen mills, engineering, steel (Sheffield) and so on. Culture is everywhere. Leeds has its Playhouse and Grand Theatre. Roundhay Park, famous for its “Children’s Day” and Tropical Gardens. There is Headingley: home of the County Cricket Club, former Rugby League World Champions The Rhinos, and Leeds Carnegie Rugby Union club. Elland Road houses one of the greatest football teams ever. Nearby Huddersfield Town won three league titles in a row once.
